A
NEW BRIGHTS BUSINESS CARD AND T-SHIRT
Members may have noticed the new Bright Exchange business
card included in their recent renewal pack.
These
are thanks to Mary Howard, who has also
designed a T-shirt featuring the same sunflower design.
She is hoping to get a new Marketing/PR group started,
with the aim to raise the profile of the Bright Exchange
among students. If you'd like to help or have ideas
or
suggestions, please contact her on 271858 or at
mary-howard@hotmail.com .

COME
JOIN IN AT THE ALLOTMENT!

The
Allotment Group is thrilled with its new greenhouse!
The structure, which was a donation, was successfully
dismantled and removed from a private garden in 2005.
Why not join the group and help put it to good use?
Email
Jenny to be
put in contact with the Allotment Group.

NEW
DIRECTORIES, AUTUMN 2006
Current
members should have now received our new 2006/7 directory
and the 2006 newsletters. Many thanks for your patience
and happy trading to all!

June
2005
Articles
featuring the Bright Exchange and its members recently
appeared in both the Daily Express and the
Argus earlier this year. See our Press
page to read them.

----------------------------------------
The Bright Exchange database
is being carefully transferred to the new software
we've bought and we can look forward to a new Brights
directory in July if all goes well. The administration
apologises for the delay, which has been due to a combination
of illness and complications with the new software;
however, we all hope that the new system will make
the directory easier for us to produce in the future.
----------------------------------------
Thanks
to Monica and Chris, the Bright Exchange has run a
promotional stall at several events
in order to attract new members and let people know
more about LETS. Our Womens Day stall at the Brighthelm
Centre was a success and we're looking forward to
participating in an upcoming Lifestyle/ Health event
on July 23rd in St Peter's Church Hall in Portland
Road, Hove.
----------------------------------------
Meanwhile
down at the allotment, amazing progress has
been made! A beautiful new pond (complete with tadpoles!)
has been dug. A lovely new shed and several new plots
have been set up and planted out as membership to
the Allotment Group grows. See our Allotment
page to read more about the project.

August
2004
Good
news! The Bright Exchange is about to become more
efficient. We've recently purchased a Bright Exchange
laptop and the latest LETS software to make it easier
for the admin to run the scheme. This should make
it much simpler for us to print new directories, keep
files up to date and view user balances. Before the
current data is transferred to the new system, letters
will be sent to ex-members, inviting them to rejoin
and retain their balances in Brights.
----------------------------------------
Summer's
here! Fancy growing some vegetables? Then why not
get involved with THE BRIGHTS ALLOTMENT PROJECT?
Come along and 'tame' a patch if you can and soon
you could be enjoying fresh salads and courgettes!
Contact Jenny
or Chris to get involved.
Allotment
enthusiasts are still seeking a shed or greenhouse
and are willing to dismantle and remove your unwanted
shed from your garden. They're also keen to borrow
(in exchange for Brights?) a petrol or cordless strimmer
to cut back the weeds (which are growing like crazy!).
If you can help with either of these needs, please
contact Jenny.
See pictures and read more on the Allotment
Page! Photo on right shows the allotment in Feb
2004.

In
April an EXHIBIT promoting the BRIGHT EXCHANGE
went on display in the central glass case at the
Hove Library. The idea was to show off some
of the talents and skills of Brights members as well
as to help attract new members. Handmade objects,
photos and information all contributed to the display,
which has now been taken down.

----------------------------------------
April
also saw the launch of the first ever BRIGHTS WEBSITE!
Comments and suggestions are welcome and we're particularly
eager to add interesting/useful links to our Links
page. You're also invited to send in stories and
photos to illustrate your personal experience
with the Bright Exchange. This kind of material is
being collected for use on the website, in press releases/leaflets
etc.. Please send comments, links, stories etc. to
Jenny.
